Google Introduces Wireless Broadband Service

Today, Google went beyond traditional software development and introduced a beta version of wireless broadband for the home. And, the best part of the solution? It is free. From the web site:

Introducing Google TiSP (BETA), our new FREE in-home wireless broadband service. Sign up today and we’ll send you your TiSP self-installation kit, which includes setup guide, fiber-optic cable, spindle, wireless router and installation CD.

The interesting thing to me was the need for a “spindle.” And, what is the “T” in TiSP? Looking at it a bit more, I discovered the whole thing is a huge spoof on the benefits of broadband technology. Check it out — it’s hilarious.

Then, I remembered it’s April Fools Day.

Some additional creative output from Google:

  • From 2006, the Google Romance service where “When you think about it, love is just another search problem. And we’ve thought about it. A lot. Google Romanceâ„¢ is our solution.”
  • From 2005, Google Gulp where you can “quench your thirst for knowledge.”

Technology spoofs at its best.
